Classic and contemporary kitchen design in Georgian townhouse
The client was in search of a fresh look for her listed Georgian townhouse. With such a traditional property, it was vital for the owner to create a balanced juxtapose between classic and contemporary design, making a state-of-the-art Stoneham kitchen the perfect choice to reinvigorate the space.
Having recently undergone a head-to-toe refurbishment, the client’s house was in need of a captivating kitchen to complete her home’s overall look.
The client entrusted Stoneham to create a charming and highly practical kitchen in her newly renovated open-plan basement. Stoneham’s Edwardian range was chosen for the cabinetry, painted in the on-trend shade of Cashmere.
Whilst the furniture style and colour convey pure elegance, the selection of handleless aluminium rails and soft close drawers throughout add a decidedly modern flourish.
The centre piece and focal point of the kitchen is the 20mm thick, polished Silestone worktop in Blanco Norte. Made from natural quartz, and topped with a solid oak coffee bar, the result is an integrated and impressive island. Distinct and imaginative, the island features a ‘concealed sink’ function, whereby the sink can be masterfully covered with a sliding oak platform.
This means, depending on the demands of the kitchen, that this space can either be used as a functional cooking zone or a delightful display area.
The kitchen also boasts the very latest in technological innovations. For cooking enthusiast, Ms Gordon, a Quooker tap provides boiling hot water in a flash, whilst the Siemens induction hob is an energy efficient solution for speedy cooking.
The room is fully fitted out with top of the range Siemens, Liebherr and Blanco appliances, providing convenient food preparation and washing functions.
Matched with sleek wooden flooring, gorgeous framed prints and an enviable bench-style dining table, the finished kitchen is a perfect combination of chic and clever.
