Set amongst spectacular views of the Clevedon countryside, Mr & Mrs Wright converted their 60’s Bungalow into a wow factor property throughout.
However, within a few years it became clear that the Master En Suite was not living up to the standards of the property that they grew to love.
The ‘designer’ products were all trend driven, with the walk-through shower not working allowing water to leak out into the main bathroom area with every use, and taps with open spout that stained with limestone with standing water.
We at Angel were asked to create a space with a wow factor, yet without contrived, over thought ideas.
Keeping the colour palette muted the wow factor had to come from the tile pattern itself. We decided to use a book matched 120×120 tile, with the book match running throughout the space.
The two-tone scheme is simple, but using the darker shade on the rear shower wall really gave the visual impact the client wanted. Added to that the subtle matt platinum finish on the freestanding bath, it’s a statement piece without being too brash.
The double vanity unit is also in a muted shade (smoke satin) with a double his and hers basin with sharp lines, and enough space between the two that it’s a comfortable space (as the basin is only 1210mm wide).
Raising the shower tray allowed us to create a fall that contains all the water within the double walk in shower. To create interest, the step is lite from underneath so the transition from the light wall tone on the walls, and the darker floor has a seamless junction.
Recesses on each end mirror each other, and make the shower a perfect length, as it would have been a little too big without.
Lighting for the basins are pendants, sitting in front of a large bespoke mirror. The WC cistern was recessed into the wall to allow the tiles to run without any boxing, this continuous finish is mirrored with the flush plate being a glass finish. No buttons to press as it is an electronic touch sensitive flush plate.
The room is now timeless, elegant and impressive, without being over bearing. The master en suite fits perfectly within the stylish interior of the home that the Wrights wanted all along.
